Card-wielding combatants can use spells and weapons to defeat their enemies.

The game mixes elements of a card game and action game in its overall design. Players choose 5 cards to use in battle at the beginning of each match. Each player chose 5 cards from the same opponent. A 1v1 match has a time limit of four minutes; if one side loses sight of their leader, the battle ends. Factions opt for a 1v1 format for competitive matches that last up to four minutes. Knowing the strengths and weaknesses of each unit type is important for calculating a successful strategy for battling. This is because knowing your enemies’ strengths, weaknesses and attack methods can help you create an effective plan.

The Soul of Eden game world contains four factions. The Republican group uses advanced armored machines like cannons and tanks alongside their militiary gear. In contrast to the Alien's adorable appearance, they leave a formidable impression with their ability to weaken and manipulate their enemies. Also possessing the ability to heal and increase strength, the wild Beast can be used to combat any opponents who dare stand in the way. Both the Empire and Resistance factions utilize magic to fight each other. Some examples of this include Doramorph transforming enemy soldiers into friendly faces. Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each group is important when making decisions related to battling each side. This is because each faction has its own cards and skills.

As a strategist, it's easy to proclaim that one should play intelligently. Yet, this is no easy task to accomplish. Not only must one master the velocity and position of different cards, they must also consider the approach of their enemies. For example, if Rocketeer contained two soldiers, one could position soldiers on both sides or decide to focus firepower in front of the battle line. Special cards have special powers. For example, the Macer cards belonging to the Empire faction have the power to heal whenever an ally enters battle. You also need to pay attention to cards with active skills like the Bern Sisters of the Mutant faction. This is because you need to select these cards at the right time in order to activate their special powers and stun enemy units. When Republic faction have active skill cards, they release a torrent of bullets in the air. This technique can wipe out large groups of enemies at once. Be sure to only use this effect when the situation requires immediate action or if your opponent has quickly organized many units into a row.

There are estimated to be over 30 different card types available in each side of the game. Each publisher makes adjustments to powerful cards after new updates come out. They've also added new cards with every new release. There is no pay to win in Soul of Eden; you must use your strategy and expertise to defeat your opponent. Cards have a ranked strength and defense value that increase the more cards you open of a specific type. For example, if you open 10 Marine Corps cards, your next card will be a higher tier. This increases the card's overall effectiveness in battle.

Rayark’s designs for units in Soul of Eden are impressive. They come in a variety of colors with a cute appearance. However, their designs contrast the war-themed game they’re from. In contrast to strategy games of the same genre, the arena building builds like a hockey field. The interface for opening cards uses a dazzling light show instead of traditional flipping.
